Dear Parents/Guardians:
The 2019-2020 school year is not concluding the way the school community envisioned back in September. The influence of the COVID-19 pandemic has certainly changed and modified our school schedule, routines, and interactions. However, it is important to bring some closure to the year with the hope that news will improve and maybe, just maybe schools can reopen with some changes in September.
The district understands that parents and students have been patient in waiting to collect personal belongings from the school and return school items to the school. Eatontown Public Schools needed to wait until conditions in the community and across the state improved before this process could occur. On Monday, June 8th and Tuesday, June 9th , the schools will be ready for parents to pick-up as well as drop-off student materials from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Each school principal will be providing specific guidance regarding this process to the school community by Wednesday, June 3rd . Please note that parents must adhere to proper social distancing requirements and follow state health guidance. Our goal is to provide you with your child’s belongings in a safe and efficient manner. Based upon the Governor’s Executive Orders, parents and students will not be permitted into the schools. Pick-up and drop-off will be conducted outside the schools. Please make every effort to pick-up your child’s belongings on these designated days.
Student devices will be collected on Wednesday, June 17th and Thursday, June 18th. The district wants students to have the devices as long as possible to complete assignments and academic work. More information about student device collection will be forthcoming in the future.
Last but certainly not least, the district is planning to honor and recognize the Class of 2020 through alternate means based upon state guidance. On Thursday, June 18th, a Virtual Graduation Ceremony will be available online to parents beginning at 7:00 pm. In addition, the district is in the process of exploring a safe and efficient way to give graduates their diplomas as well. More information will be forthcoming in the next week or so. State guidance for graduations has changed repeatedly over the last few weeks. The fluidity of the state guidance has made planning very challenging for school districts.
