Dear Parents/Guardians:
I am pleased to announce that for the 2024-2025 school year, the district has implemented an automated attendance notification system. Now, when your child is absent from school, you will receive an automated phone call to confirm that your child has been marked absent.
These automated calls will be sent out each day approximately one hour after the school start time on the day your child is marked absent. These calls will be sent even if you have already made the school aware that your child will be absent, and these calls do not distinguish between excused and unexcused absences. Rather, they are meant to serve as confirmation that your child is absent from school on a particular day. This provides an added layer of communication between the school and home and helps to maintain student safety, allowing parents/guardians to take part in monitoring their children’s attendance and address potential issues early. Additionally, this system promotes accountability and encourages regular attendance among students.
Eatontown Public Schools has been exploring ways to improve attendance rates throughout our schools. Attendance is a critically important part of students’ academic success and personal development. Regular attendance means students are engaged in the learning process, and missing school can cause gaps in knowledge that may be difficult to overcome. Further, the social-emotional skills that students learn during the school day are essential for future success in life.
If you have any questions about this system, please contact your child’s principal.
Thank you for your attention and consideration.
Sincerely,
Scott T. McCue
Superintendent of Schools
