Dear Eatontown Public Schools Community Member:

As Superintendent of Schools, I hope this correspondence finds you well and you are enjoying the mild winter thus far. The warmer weather we have experienced this winter has certainly helped the district with construction and completing the Energy Savings Improvement Plan (ESIP) work.

I am happy to report that the solar project is now operational and generating power at all locations. This 1.386.5 kW system will help the district reduce its energy costs over the next 15 years. These savings provided the district with an opportunity to replace 26 rooftop HVAC units as well as update other aspects of our heating and air conditioning systems.

At this time, all lighting has been replaced with energy efficient LED bulbs, all rooftop units have been installed, and the Building Management System (BMS) is being tweaked and refined. The BMS is the computer operating system that controls the heat, air conditioning, as well as the fresh air flow into the rooms.

The goal is to complete all remaining work by the end of the month. It is important to reiterate once again that this work was accomplished through the energy savings achieved by the ESIP resulting in no cost to the taxpayers of Eatontown.

Due to the cost savings achieved as well as the efficiency of the overall project, the Board of Education was able to fund additional HVAC repairs at Margaret L. Vetter School. This additional work also will not financially impact Eatontown taxpayers, but will replace aging boilers with a new, energy-efficient system.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience throughout this project. Although the district tried to minimize inconveniences, due to the size and scope of this $5 million project, some inconvenience is difficult to avoid.

Please have a Happy Valentine’s Day as well as a Happy Presidents’ Day.

Sincerely,

Scott T. McCue Superintendent of Schools
