September was a month to remember😊

Students came back to Memorial after a relaxing and well-deserved summer break. This year had a new feel with sixth grade coming over for the first time in over 20 years. The kids quickly got acclimated to the new school and all the procedures and policies they had to follow. Some new and exciting updates we implemented were digital hall passes for the students rather than paper passes (they kept losing) and a no backpack policy throughout the day (we gave the students more times at their lockers). Both these updated policies will not only improve student safety but will make for a smoother transition going forward.

Students at Memorial will also be introduced to a new Specials schedule. No longer will they have Art, Spanish, PE and Health every day. Now they will have classes such as Technology Arts, Media Arts and Music Arts combined with the other Specials. So far, the feedback has been great from the students.

Back to School Night happened on the 17th of September. This year we implemented a new format due to past suggestions we received. This year’s Back to School Night was more of an Open House feel rather than a follow your child’s schedule feel. Overall, the night went well, and we received some feedback both positive and negative. As with all things, we constantly strive to make things better for our students and parents. I would like to thank all that came out and supported the school and we look forward to seeing a lot more parent participation for the rest of the year.
